This the first of a series of simple essays each of which takes a theme of the debate on renewable energy, climate change and other such issues. This one addresses the CO2 output of an electric car. Government taxation rates this at 0gm / km. travelled. This is hogwash. In fact with most energy mixes in developed countries, it is comparable with a EUR6 diesel. If all electricity was as clean as a whistle, it would indeed be close to 0gm / km travelled but there is no such thing as "clean" electricity. Everything has a footprint. | None yet | 7 |
